Best Duplo Set Jan 29, 2011

This is the best set of Duplo blocks we own. It has a lot of special pieces that I haven't yet come across in other sets and less of the standard bricks that we already have a ton of, plus the three characters. You build can limitless different things out of the parts in this set when combined with other duplos. I think it's a great set for the price and highly recommend this set above some others in the same price range, especially if you already own other duplo blocks.

Bought this for my 2 1/2 year old little girl. She took it out of the box, mixed it with her other Duplos and proced to start building some kinda "crane" yard. :D The crane yard is on our bed however so either myself or my husband has to sleep on the rocking chair.
All in all, the set has a few unique Duplo pieces that will hold a toddler's attention very well. The Duplo pieces themselves seem to be a bit sturdier than usual (the garbage truck feels heavier than other Duplo trucks and the compoenents aren't as loose). The bucket is spring loaded with a decent size spring (well hidden in the plastic so no worry of it falling out) - this means the bucket open and closes properly yet it does not have enough tension (nor snaps) to squish a little one's finger.
The only downside is that for the price you'll be getting approxiamately 26 pieces in all - look for a sale day and grab it then, you'll be getting a really good deal.

he particularly loves the crane part, and picking up stuff with it.
I will say the design isn't amazing. The crane is better unhooked from the lego stuff. And so rarely did we every have the whole configuration. But he loves the guys that come with this and the little garbage truck, too. Definitely worth it. Got it when he was almost 2 1/2 and he is still playing with it at almost 3 1/2.

I purchased this set for my 3.5 year old. It was a hit from the moment we opened the box and is used daily. He absolutely loves the crane and all of the variations he can make by himself using all of the other pieces... especially combining the garbage truck and crane components. We've since combined this set with the LEGO Duplo Building Set-71 pieces and the fun continues.
I hightly recommend this set. It promotes creativity and independent play.
