 So many tiny pieces, but it is suprisingly sturdy Mar 05, 2011

My daughter received this set for her 3rd birthday and she is in LOVE. The pony is cute but relatively small (MLP figures now come in at least 3 sizes and this is the middle size)and has a number of accessories with it- watering cans/buckets/saddles/hats etc. They are great but difficult for her to put on herself, so it ends up Mommy plays my little ponies too.
There are 2 TINY carrots and an apple that you can plant and pick and she does- and then feeds them to the ponies- its really cute, but I know one of these is going to get lost-- they are THAT TINY, and why I gave fewer stars on durability.
The packaging is a little misleading- what you see in the first photo is what is included. The retail packaging shows a red bird in the tree and a bunny sitting in the window and those are NOT included. I get asked where is the red bird from the picture ALL THE TIME. Apparently they come with other ponies. We do have other accessories from pony sets and they do fit on the pegs provided throughout the barn- so it is nice that they are seemingly all interchangeable. Her "large" ponies do NOT fit through the door of the barn (well, unless you turn them sideways) which is minorly frustrating, but not a big deal.
Overall- a great toy for a pony crazed toddler, but perhaps a little frustrating for her Mom. I know she'll grow into it though and she does so love her Applejack.

This set has held up well to 6 months of daily use (and mild abuse) from a 3.5 year old. The only real issue has been the weathervane is no longer attached to the top of the barn. You can still click it back on, but the "click" is less secure. Overall, I am still very pleased with the set and have upped the durability score to reflect on its fairly intact survival.
I fear some later reviewers may have misunderstood my concern about the small pieces- I would never have given my child the set if I was worried about her sticking carrots up her nose, but the toy is rated for ages 3 and up. So I feel that commenting on the sheer number of tiny pieces is warranted. I'm glad that for older children, the cardboard cut outs can be used as play things, they would not survive in my home and it is still misleading to have those characters pictured in all the packaging and advertising for the product but not actually included IN the product. I ended up repuposing all those cardboard characters into scrapbook pages, so not a total loss. But I did end up having to search out a "red bird" to salvage the peace at my house.

My 8-year-old daughter, who is crazy for all things My Little Pony, and who adores Applejack in particular, requested this toy for a special occasion. Seeing the lower rating previously given this toy on Amazon, I was a bit hesitant to purchase this myself. However, when I read that review, I discovered the low grade was primarily due to:
- several small parts (which is a reasonable concern for toddlers); and
- the cardboard cutouts included in the packaging (which can make the set appear to have more toys than it actually does)
The set itself does come with several small parts (e.g., carrots that you can "plant" in the ground and "harvest" by pulling out, etc.), but I wouldn't rate it down at all for that. Those cute little accessories are just right for fun play time, and are designed to be enjoyed by children old enough to know not to stick toys in their nose or mouth or what have you. My daughter has owned and played with this set for about a month now, and the pieces all seem quite durable and easy to interact with. She just adores this set! So I recommend this set as a good purchase for MLP fans who are old enough to be responsible with tiny parts. BONUS: I carefully removed the cardboard characters from the packaging, and my daughter happily incorporates those in her play time, too; so it's like she does have those "toys" included, after all!

as a real pegasister, i think its real great for a collection of mlp fim! I recommend it to all bronys/bronies and pegasisters! I think you will like it in ten seconds flat. All i have got to say is its a great item for a collection and make it 20% cooler! *brohoof*

My 11 year old purchased this for my 2 year old as a Christmas gift. It comes with lots of tiny pieces that we keep in a little bucket. The pony gets lots of playtime, but the barn, not so much. It usually just serves as a cute back drop.

Cute toy. Goes with all Little Pony stuff. My 2.5 yr old plays with it occassionally and it has not broken, so that is all good in my book!
