Our 4-Year old Loves it! Nov 06, 2010

My husband picked this up at Kmart for $50. I read the reviews online and was hesitant about keeping it. Our 4-yr old has now had the wing pack for a month & it's still working fine, and he is still loving it. We told him to lower the wings when he goes thru doorways so that he doesn't take a wing off, and he has fun lowering them & putting them back up, all with the push of a button. He wore them trick or treating and ran into a couple kids with them, but they still held up.

This was for my son's birthday. It was his favorite toy by far. But after about 2 hours the wings stopped responding to the button press. They open or close maybe 1 out of every 20 attempts, and only if the toy is shaken while pressing the button. It seems likely that one of the wire connections internally was not connected well.
Amazon is sending a replacement so I am going to give it another shot and hope this was just a fluke.
Note: The only button on the chest plate that does anything is the big red button that opens the wings. As expensive as this toy is I think the little buttons on the other side should trigger Buzz's voice or something. Every person and kid at the party pressed those fake buttons expecting Buzz to talk.
But if the next one works longer than 2 hours then I would have to say it is a hit since my 4 year old son LOVES it. I would upgrade the rating on this review to reflect more stars in that case. His little face when it stopped working was pitiful. He said "That was my favorite toy" :-(

My son is 3 and LOVES this toy! He is always wearing it and people who see him in it go crazy over it as well. The only thing I dont like is one of the straps you cant adjust too much because it has a cord that hooks into the pack to make it function so since he is smaller in frame, it is always crooked since we cant tighten it. But he could care less

The wings worked great for.... about 2 weeks. Then they stopped working, in spite of the battery change and such. My son was so bummed out about it that I hid them from him until tonight (4 months later!) and he wanted to wear them. Well, he wore them and they worked... about a fourth of the time. Then smoke started coming out of the pack!!! I couldn't tell where the smell was coming from at first but then I saw the smoke and demanded my son to take them off. When I took the wings off the wire was smoking like crazy and the battery pack was HOT (and this is with fresh batteries in them). I should have listened to the reviews about the wings not working and spent the $50 on another toy that won't burn my kid.

my son will be buzz for Halloween, got the costume and all. He loves it and can't wait to go flying around the neighborhood trick or treating. major hit a true eye catcher at night.
